Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus
Somebody pointed out to me this video, which seems to be moving away from the 'churchy-ness' of Christianity. Yet it reminded me of all the ills of Christianity that still infected the guy who made the video.
Religion is a system of beliefs. Jesus never said that he believe in anything so Jesus could not be said to be a believer or religious. Jesus advocated that people believe in him and in so doing he was a hypocrite.
The apostles were believers in Jesus, their whole message was about believing and hence they created what is known today as the religion called Christianity. But Christianity is not following Jesus' way, truth and life, it is about believing that Jesus' death and resurrection effected the consequences of our lives; that because of Jesus' death we will not have to go to hell for our sins. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jesus way, truth or LIFE. In fact, this idea is diabolically apposed to Jesus' way, truth and life.
So I can see why they would call their religion Christianity, Christ-anti. Since they call Jesus the Christ the message of Christ-anti is anti the way of Christ or Antichrist. (As Jesus said, 'nothing is hidden that will not later be revealed.")
Mahatma Gandhi was once asked what he thought of Christians and he said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike their Christ." I have yet to meet a non Christian who would disagree with that statement.
Christians are so unlike their Christ because they do not follow their Christ, they follow the faithless teachings of the apostles, particularly of the one who called himself the Apostle Paul.
Jesus was constantly pointing out to his followers how faithless they were and that faithlessness manifested into their doctrine, which today is called the doctrine of Christianity. Part of that doctrine says that you cannot be like Jesus, that He was God and you are not. It also says that Jesus was without sin but that all the rest of humanity is born into sin and that it
needs Jesus to save us from our sins.
This is as far from Jesus' way, truth and life as a person could get, and it is all a product of the faithlessness of the writers of the New Testament.
So those who believe in the bible and study the New Testament (NT) go away from Jesus' way and become very unlike their Christ, just as Gandhi pointed out.
It is very clear that the apostles did not follow Jesus' way of thinking. They probably could not understand it and Jesus' teaching are not that very clarifying as to why he thought the way he did.
Basically, this post is about pointing out that if you believe in the teachings of the apostles and you follow them you are not following and you will be turned away from Jesus' way, truth or life.
